Her Roots
Dr. Akudo is the last of five children, raised in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria — in a culture where, as she puts it plainly, "women do not have too much say." She watched that world closely, and decided to spend her life changing what it made possible for the women who came after her: teaching them the skills to survive, and thrive, in marriage and in life.
The turn came in a classroom. As a teacher, she watched children arrive every day carrying the weight of their parents' marital struggles — trauma showing up in small bodies far too early. That was the moment she understood: help the parents heal the marriage, and the children get their childhood back.
